We welcome you to kick back and relax in style at Apple Barn, a beautifully designed, one bedroomed, luxury yet rustic detached converted stable, with a private hot hub spa.
History
This brand-new holiday conversion was once Davina’s stable block, where she has bred and kept many horses over the last 20 years or so. Oh, and I was also “allowed” to keep a few motorbikes and bits and pieces in the spare stable!!!
The Space
Contemporary yet cosy, we have carefully converted Apple Barn into a stylish modern home, which retains some of the rustic features which point towards its former use, including timber beams and wide stable door openings.
Inside, the space includes a spacious open plan kitchen/living room with a large comfy leather sofa (which can also double-up as a sofa bed) with an abundance of cushions and throws to sink into in front of the wood burning stove. We provide a free basket of logs and kindling on arrival.
There is a 50-inch LED HDR 4K UHD Smart TV within the living room, which is Netflix/Amazon Prime/Disney ready, so you are welcome to log-in to your own accounts. There is also a JVC Bluetooth Music System, with DAB radio and CD Player. Free WIFI is provided with good signal throughout the barn.
The kitchen is well equipped with everything you would need to cook up a delicious supper including kitchen staples such as Olive oil, Balsamic vinegar and a range of herbs and spices. There is an espresso machine, a double oven, a NEFF induction hob, a toaster, a kettle, a microwave and a fridge/freezer. There is also a washing machine with complimentary washing tablets should you need it and all necessary cleaning materials, dishcloths, tea towels etc.
The dining table seats 4, so there is plenty of room should you wish to entertain guests.
Upon your arrival you will find a complimentary welcome tray of tea, coffee, hot chocolate, sugar, milk, butter, jam and some other Cornish goodies! Apple Barn offer’s self-catering accommodation, but we can provide delicious, Cornish breakfast hampers for a small additional charge. Please contact us if you would like to find out more. If you would like to have your shopping delivered to Apple Barn prior to your stay, we are more than happy to receive any deliveries on your behalf and carefully pack away your supplies.
A lobby area includes a comfy chair, which is perfect for reading and relaxing and there is a bookcase within the lobby with a range of guidebooks, reading material and games for you to enjoy. There is also a large cupboard with a clothes airer, an iron and an ironing board.
Off the lobby is a luxurious bathroom, which includes a large walk-in waterfall shower and a fabulously stylish slipper bath, which is perfect for soothing those muscles after a long walk. Fluffy towels are provided for the duration of your stay, along with a range of deluxe toiletries including Odyssey shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, and bubble bath. An electric toothbrush/shaver charging point is provided, along with a large, LED bathroom mirror.
The bedroom is a beautiful relaxing space with a large, king size handmade bed with an Emma mattress, a selection of comfy pillows and crisp, Egyptian Cotton sheets. With plenty of cupboard space and a hanging rail, the bedroom also benefits from a 43-inch LED HDR 4K UHD Smart TV, which is Netflix/Amazon Prime/Disney ready. Don’t forgot your passwords! A hair dryer and hair straighteners are also provided for your use.
Outside Space
Outside, Apple Barn benefits from a chunky oak framed porch with a bench seat, which is perfect for enjoying a morning coffee whilst the sun comes up. Next to the porch is a small wash bay area with a cold tap and hose, perfect for cleaning off your walking boots, and your pets’ walking boots!
The garden is fully enclosed with dog proof fencing and is mainly laid to grass with a slate patio area and two comfortable and relaxing chairs and a small table. There is also a picnic bench with an umbrella to enjoy eating alfresco.
The garden leads around to an area of decking, lit by solar fairy lights and upon which is your very own hot tub spa to enjoy. The hot tub is an Artesian South Sea Spa which benefits from 29 jets and 7 seats! The spa benefits from an easy-to-use control panel, from which you can set the temperature and change the colour of the lights! The hot tub spa is perfect to relax in after a long day of adventure. Hot water message therapy really helps to relax the body and the mind and the views of the stars on a clear night with a glass of Prosecco in hand is very special! Typically, the hot tub spa will be ready for you to use the morning after you check in. This is because we carefully clean the hot tub between uses, including a full re-fill which takes time to heat up. However, if circumstances allow and we can get it ready for your arrival, we will! Dressing gowns, spa towels and slippers are provided for your stay, you just need to remember your bathing gear!
The inner courtyard is located on the other side of the barn and this comprises a shared, communal gravelled and landscaped space.
Pet Friendly
We welcome pets including dogs at Apple Barn, but just ask that they are ‘cat tolerant’ so as not to upset our resident moggies ‘Pip and Squeak’! Pet blankets are provided if they would like to snuggle up on the sofa or chairs, but we do ask no pets on the bed please. We would also ask that pets are not left alone at Apple Barn and that they are kept on their leads in any of the shared areas.
A short walk up the footpath will take you to our Three Corner Field. Provided there is no livestock grazing in the field, you are welcome to let your dog off the lead and let them have a good run!
Do keep your eyes open whilst walking, as it is not unusual to see, wild deer, rabbits and squirrels playing in the trees and hedgerows! A favourite of ours is seeing the birds of prey flying around; both Buzzards and Barn owls live nearby so keep your eyes open and your camera ready.
Parking and Access
The entrance to Cidermill Cottages is sign posted off the main road (directions are provided on the Contact Us page). Upon entering our driveway, you will travel approximately 100m down the lane, before arriving at Apple Barn.
Parking for Apple Barn is provided immediately next to the garden fence and pedestrian access. You will see the parking sign affixed to the wall of the barn. We have provided ample free parking for your vehicle(s) because we never want you to worry about parking whilst visiting us here in Cornwall. So many places have limited or no parking availability, which can be stressful for unloading your stuff. Here, you can just turn up, walk in, put the kettle on and light the fire, leaving you to unload at your leisure, or “dreckly” as we say in Cornwall!
From the parking space, a pedestrian gate will take you into a fully fenced garden, with a path leading up to the oak framed porch and main entrance.
Within the porch is a push button keysafe. The code for the keysafe will be issued prior to your arrival.
Check-In/Check-Out Details
Check-In time is 1500hrs (3pm) onwards and we ask guests to Check-Out by 10:00am.
Other things to note
Apple Barn is a one bedroomed property, but we also have a good quality sofa bed within the living room that can sleep an additional two people and we are happy to host additional guests. Additional bedding and towels will be provided.
