Historically a former milking parlour, some cow sheds and a stable, the earliest of which dates back to 1879, Cidermill Cottages began its transformation in 2000, when we started the process of converting the main barn into a home and an annexe for us and our grandparents Pam and Alan. We finally finished in 2004 and then spent the next 15 years working hard, playing harder and enjoying our home with our two cats: Pip and Squeak and a herd of horses: Polly and Missy, Roxy and Ruby, Darcie and most recently Rizzo and Mr Magoo!
During the Covid19 Pandemic, we had a mad idea to convert an old stable in the courtyard into a little home from home so that other people could share in our love of living here. And hence it all started!
Nearly 3 years later, after a lot of sweat, occasional blood and a whole lot more £££ we finally finished! It’s been a long, labour of love and a very good lesson in how a building project eats money (!), but we have completed most of the work ourselves alongside our day jobs (with some expert help from some very good friends!) and we have loved (almost!) every moment!
As you can probably imagine, it takes a lot of thought and a lot of good old fashioned hard work to convert a run-down old stable into a top quality, luxury barn conversion, but we are proud of what we have created, and we are really looking forward to welcoming guests to share in our little patch of Cornwall.
